All of the contestants competed in a mystery box challenge that contained six visible ingredients (quail, spring onion, nectarine, nduja, parsnip and thyme). There were four small boxes as well, that contained an ingredient that each of the judges have chosen (Andy chose vino cotto, Jean-Christophe chose vanilla, Sophia chose fennel and Poh chose lychees). The top dishes of the day were Josh C's quail and nduja empandanas with lychee sauce, Lachlan's 'Lochy pops', Nat's quail and nectarine dumplings, and Lily's spicy quail with parsnip puree, nectarines and vino cotto. However, Mimi forgot to put the vino cotto element on her plate, Sumeet's pappardelle and her quail were undercooked, Snezana's dumplings were good but her quail was undercooked, and Khristian's sauces overpowered the dish. Having cooked the bottom four dishes, Khristian, Mimi, Snezana and Sumeet were sent to the pressure test.
